Bairaha Farms PLC has modernised its laboratory with the addition of microbiological laboratory.
With that, the company has been able to assess and ensure the hygiene standards in its factories, farms and hatcheries, among others, while testing processed chicken and chicken meat products to ensure product quality, conforming to both international and local quality standards.

With the availability of the newly added PCR testing, the company’s laboratory will have at its disposal, tools to diagnose any poultry-related infection at the early stage in any given flock of breeder and commercial broiler chicks/birds to take timely corrective actions. Similar to PCR tests that are being used for detection of pathogenic microorganism in regard to analysis of food products, the chicken and its meat product samples can also be tested regularly to strengthen the product quality and food safety.

In the same way the Bairaha’s Eliza and Microbiological laboratory has been providing its services to other poultry farmers and organisations, it will offer its PCR testing facilities to these customers, to enable them to improve the health status of their flocks as well as food safety of chicken and other products of these organisations.

At the inauguration of the new laboratory, Bairaha Farms PLC Managing Director and CEO Yakooth Naleem stated, “With nearly 47 years of dedicated service to the poultry industry, Bairaha Farms has also received many local and international accolades and in 2022, it is expected to generate around US $ 1.5 million in export earnings, which can be substantially increased if the government fast-tracks agreements, specially with the governments of the Middle Eastern countries, to enable chicken to be exported to those countries.”
