Barista, the largest café chain in Sri Lanka, for the third time won the LMD Customer Service Excellence Online Survey award in the cafes and coffeehouses sector.
The LMD survey is carried out by the LMD Magazine every year and focuses on customer service excellence in various sectors via an online survey by its readers.
Speaking of the recent achievements Barista CEO Dilupa Pathirana stated, “At Barista, we serve the most premium Lavazza coffee coupled with our Barista-branded customer service, which has been our winning proposition amongst customers. We believe that the efforts invested into this winning combination is what truly sets us apart in the coffee industry to become the largest and most preferred café chain in Sri Lanka, winning this award for the third time.”

“Barista is continuously adapting to remain relevant in an environment of changing consumer needs and preferences. As a brand, we constantly remain at the forefront in providing value and quality to our consumer, which is the reason for Barista’s success. Customer service is embedded into Barista’s DNA through encouraging open communication, employee empowerment, change management and instilling brand responsibility across all departments. Barista’s human resource department is continually focusing on brand enhancement activities, by conducting training and development programmes for our young brew masters, incentive plans for following customer service guidelines diligently or simply sending a letter of appreciation upon receiving customer compliments,” added Pathirana.

Currently, Barista has 19 outlets, with the most recent outlet opening in the Heritage City of the Galle Dutch Fort. With Barista’s customer base continuously expanding and being the most preferred cup of coffee by locals and tourists in Sri Lanka, the largest coffee chain in Sri Lanka has plans to increase its reach and penetrate markets outside of Colombo, by opening 50 outlets by the end of 2024 in some of the busiest tourist hotspots and suburban areas in the count.
