CMA Sri Lanka recently launched its fifth syllabus revision termed ‘CMA Sri Lanka Professional Programme 2023-2027’, at Taj Samudra Colombo.
The chief guest and keynote speaker at the event was Professor Ho Yew Kee, Professor of Accounting and Associate Provost (SkillsFuture and Staff Development) of Singapore Institute of Technology and former Professor of Accounting of National University of Singapore and the guest of honour was Education Ministry Secretary M. Nihal Ranasingha.

The new syllabus will have three focus areas that corporate leaders define as core requirements of a future-ready accountant, namely digitally enabled, value-driven and solution-savvy, to drive this equipping process. With this vision, the Institute of Certified Management Accountants will introduce its Professional Programme 2023-2027 under the theme ‘equipping future accountants’.

The study programme consists of four levels: Level 1 (Certificate), Level 2 (Operational), Level 3 (Managerial) and Level 4 (Strategic).
The Integrative Case Study offered at Strategic Level is the capstone of the study programme. It enhances the competencies of candidates in a higher order and a holistic sense.

The skill stream is predominantly focused on communication and technology skills. Skill course units, while instilling and enhancing specific professional skills, facilitate mastery of other course units.
The practical training requirement of three years’ duration ensures that candidates are competent in the application of knowledge, skills, professional values, ethics and attitudes.
On completion of the three years of practical training, all passed finalists will be able to get the membership of CMA Sri Lanka and use the designation ACMA.
