The 11th Capital Markets Conference (CAPM) organised by UTO EduConsult (Pvt) Ltd and supported by the Colombo Stock Exchange is scheduled to be held on July 13th.
The entire economy is in dire need of a ‘Reset’ and the capital markets will play an integral role in the recovery process.

Domestic Debt Restructuring or the Domestic Debt Optimisation, commonly referred to by their respective acronyms, DDR and DDO, are what dominate discussions not just at a professional level but also on the social circuit, such is the criticality of these events. This is also set to feature prominently in the panel discussions, which should include speakers from various jurisdictions, providing different perspectives to very complex areas that have arisen due to the status quo.

The local situation has been compounded by global crises of staggering proportions, including a protracted war in the Ukraine, volatile markets and inflation at unprecedented levels. On a positive note, there are indications of various new initiatives, especially with Green Financing and in the fledgling Islamic Capital Market sector.

Under the theme “New Initiatives, Alternative Strategies and Disruptive Technologies”, the conference aims to provide a platform for in-depth exploration and insightful conversations on the theme at large, as well as Managing Crises and the role of Artificial Intelligence and Fintech, topics that have significant implications for the industry.
The conference will feature panel discussions, bringing together experts, thought leaders, and industry professionals to explore the themes of the event. In attendance will be Dilshan Wirasekara, Chairman of the Colombo Stock Exchange, who will deliver the keynote address for the day.
