Ceylon Agro and Bio-Technology Company in Kenya to explore organic fertiliser manufacturing

A delegation of Ceylon Agro and Bio Technology Company Ltd, led by CEO Ravin Nawaratne and High Commissioner for Sri Lanka in Kenya Kana V. Kananathan held a constructive meeting yesterday with Kenya’s State Department for Investment Promotion Principal Secretary Abubakar Hassan Abubakar and the team of officials of the Agriculture Ministry, which centred on establishing a manufacturing unit for organic fertiliser in Kenya.
Ceylon Agro and Bio Technology Company embarked on this investment exploration visit to Kenya at the invitation of Kananathan, offering the platform for potential collaboration with Kenyan stakeholders and aiming to tap into the rich agricultural opportunities in Kenya and across the broader African region.

During this meeting, the discussions revolved around the specifics of the proposed investment by Ceylon Agro and Bio-Technology in the organic fertiliser sector within Kenya. The discussions were firmly rooted in a shared commitment to sustainable agricultural practices.
Nawaratne noted that Kenya’s agricultural potential is immense and the entity is eager to partner with local stakeholders to deliver high-quality fertilisers. 
Kananathan echoed similar sentiment, stating the initiative would not only benefit our investor but also make substantial contributions to Kenya’s food security and economic growth.
Abubakar highlighted the win-win potential of this collaboration for both Sri Lanka and Kenya and assured the investor of the Kenyan government’s unwavering support in navigating regulatory processes and obtaining necessary assistance for the project. 
The increasing investments from Sri Lanka across various sectors in Kenya and the African region signify a significant stride towards strengthening economic ties between Sri Lanka and the continent. The ongoing discussions regarding fertiliser production are poised to bring Sri Lanka and Kenya closer together in the crucial realm of agriculture.
