Construction Chamber conducts webinar on supply side issues

The Chamber conducted a webinar on the ‘Impact of Supply Restriction on Construction Projects’ recently.  
The  webinar was well received amongst the construction fraternity with over 250 participating at this event. 
The opening topic was on the ‘Macro Economic Development and Prospects’ that was addressed by Dr. P. K. Harischandra, Additional Director, Economic Research Unit of the Central Banker.   This was a broad overview of the country’s present situation and future prospects for the Construction Industry.  
The topic on‘sourcing local raw material for the industry’ was addressed by Chief Mining Engineer, (RXD) of the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau.  Alarming news that was highlighted is that by year 2025 the country would not have adequate river sand to mine and the alternate suggested was MSand. 
Eng. Majith Kodituwakku of the International Construction Consortium spoke    of the phenomenal increase in prices of the major building materials and the difficulties encountered in implementing projects. 
Chartered Quantity Surveyor Dulesha Wijesiri spoke of the dilemmathat contractors face in resolving disputes arising in contract administration.
This webinar was ably moderated experienced Chartered Quantity Surveyor Upul Shantha.
