Copreus gets enjoining order against YouTube channel for publishing defamatory videos linking Priyamali

Copreus Private Ltd, a company running its business operations at East Tower of the World Trade Centre in Colombo has obtained an enjoining order preventing two YouTube channel operators from publishing any defamatory videos making inference and implications of an alleged connection between Copreus Ltd and controversial businesswoman Thilini Priyamali who is currently under remand custody over an alleged financial fraud.

The Colombo District Court issued this Enjoining Order against R.A.M.P. Rathnayake and Dananjaya Naranbadda, owners and operators of the YouTube Channel ‘Life Traveler’, and this order will be effective until November 14.
Copreus Ltd., a subsidiary of a global conglomerate had filed this lawsuit naming these two owners and operators of the YouTube Channel as defendants.

According to the plaint, the defendants in the case, R.A.M.P. Rathnayake and W.D. Dananjaya Naranbadda had published two videos regarding Copreus, on ‘The Life Traveler’ YouTube Channel, making inferences and implications of an alleged connection between Copreus and Thilini Priyamali.

District Court Judge Purnima Paranagamage granted this Enjoining Order against R. A. M. P. Rathnayake and W. D. Dananjaya Naranbadda, preventing them, their servants, and agents from continuing to publish and/or allowing to be published, displayed or hosted on The Life Traveler YouTube channel or any other social media channel or in any other manner, the two videos referring Copreus, or any other material defamatory to Copreus. 

Incorporated in Sri Lanka in 2018, Copreus Ltd., a subsidiary of a global conglomerate of the same name, is providing certain BPO services for www.finq.com and www.gulfbrokers.com, two renowned international CFD e-trading platforms. 
Attorney-at-Law Manoj Bandara and Attorney-At-Law Jinanji Senanayake, instructed by Sudath Perera Associates appeared for Copreus Private Ltd.
