Crafting light for hope

As Vesak draws near in about 10 days, a local artisan is immersed in crafting frames for ‘Vesak lanterns’ that will adorn houses, businesses, streets, and schools. These small entities, predominantly informal, have weathered successive storms—from the Easter Sunday attacks to the pandemic and the economic crisis. Nevertheless, they are now gearing up, stocking higher quantities this year in anticipation of increased sales.
