Govt. to launch experimental programme revive construction sector

The government is launching an experimental programme to revitalize the country's construction sector.

President Wickremesinghe said construction companies will receive state land free of charge to build government buildings.

State institutions will then pay a monthly rent to the construction companies to cover their cost.

Once the payments are complete, the buildings will be handed over to the relevant government institutions.

The new Foreign Ministry building complex will serve as a pilot project for this initiative.
