The Hambantota International Port Group (HIPG) recently showcased its strategic vision and accomplishments at Sri Lanka Transport and Logistics Conference 2024, organised by Bricsa Consulting, India.
Held at Sheraton Colombo, the conference brought together key stakeholders from both public and private sectors to discuss the current and future challenges in the transport and logistics market, aiming to create a common platform for interaction and collaboration.
HIPG Deputy General Manager Commercial and Marketing Bindu Ranasinghe delivered an informative presentation to the top-level participants. His presentation highlighted the port’s growth, capacity and multi-purpose offerings, focusing on the HIP’s five-pillar growth strategy. The strategy encompasses integrated logistics, marine services, port services, energy hub and port-related industries, with the development of various segments under each pillar.
Ranasinghe elaborated, “We showcased significant milestones the port has reached, including annual throughput achievements, year-on-year increases in RORO transshipment, advancements in bunkering and energy hub activities and our latest success in securing container operations. Our planned and ongoing infrastructure developments and investments to enhance the different segments of our services garnered significant interest from both local and international participants.”
General Manager Commercial and Marketing Lance Zuo said, “Conferences of this nature are vital for the industry to grow, as they provide each player with an opportunity to showcase their strengths and build a value chain across logistics and transport networks. The marketing division of the HIP actively positions the port in forums like this, both in Sri Lanka and across the globe and we have seen excellent results from the networking opportunities they present. As a multipurpose port, we seek synergies across sectors and aim to add value to connected ports, thereby strengthening global trade routes and ensuring the prosperity of our regions.”
