IASL appoints office bearers for 2023/24

The Insurance Association of Sri Lanka (IASL), the representative body of the insurance industry in the country, appointed its office bearers for the year 2023/24, at the 34th Annual General meeting held recently.

The IASL appointed Sri Lanka Insurance Chief Executive Officer Chandana L. Aluthgama as President, HNB Assurance PLC Chief Executive Officer Lasitha Wimalaratne as Vice President, Orient Insurance Limited Chief Executive Officer Tanuj Edward as Secretary and LOLC Life Assurance Chief Executive Officer Nadika Opatha as Treasurer of the IASL. J.M. Niyas continues in his position as Secretary General of the IASL. 

At present, all 27 registered insurance companies are members of the IASL and the association is led by the common objective of bringing the insurers together to create a platform for cooperates regarding the matters affecting the common interest and welfare of its members and is synonymous in its efforts to provide protection through insurance to the Sri Lankan public.

The executive committee of the IASL and the sub-committees concentrate on significant matters and new developments to the industry and is embodied with the General Insurance Forum chaired by Allianz Insurance Lanka Limited Assistant General Manager MidCorp Business Kasun De Silva, Life Insurance Forum chaired by HNB Assurance Head of Operations/Assistant General Manager Mahendra Wilegoda, Legal Advisory Forum chaired by Ceylinco Life Insurance Limited Assistant General Manager Legal Kushan Weththasinghe, Financial and Technical Sub-Committee chaired by AIA Insurance Chief Financial Officer Samapth Thushara, Marketing and Sales Forum chaired by Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation Deputy General Manager/Head of Marketing and Life Distribution Namalee A. Silva, IT Sub-Committee chaired by Softlogic Life Insurance PLC EVP/Chief Information Officer Amal Dharmapriya, HR Sub-Committee chaired by Softlogic Life PLC SVP/Chief Human Resource Officer Insurance Indika Bamunusinghe and Actuarial Sub-Committee chaired by Allianz Life Insurance Lanka Limited Chief Actuary Malaka Mihindukulasuriya, operate within the purview of the executive committee, enabling cooperation, knowledge sharing and transfer of best practices among peers.
