Indices close in green

The ASPI closed in green as a result of price gains in counters such as Lanka IOC, Expolanka Holdings and Hayleys with the turnover crossing Rs. 2.3 bn. 
A similar behaviour was witnessed in the S&P SL20. High net worth and institutional investor participation was noted in Melstacop, John Keells Holdings and Hatton National Bank. 
Mixed interest was observed in Lanka IOC, Expolanka Holdings and ACL Cables whilst retail interest was noted in Browns Investments, LOLC Finance and Waskaduwa Beach Resort. 


Foreign participation in the market activity remained at subdued levels with foreigners closing as net sellers. Energy sector was the top contributor to the market turnover (due to Lanka IOC) whilst the sector index gained 9.47%. The share price of Lanka IOC increased by Rs. 10.40 (11.65%) to close at Rs. 99.70.
Food, Beverage & Tobacco sector was the second highest contributor to the market turnover (due to Melstacorp) whilst the sector index increased by 0.56%. 


The share price of Melstacorp gained Rs. 0.70 (1.74%) to close at Rs. 41.00. Expolanka Holdings, ACL Cables and John Keells Holdings were also included amongst the top turnover contributors. 
The share price of Expolanka Holdings moved up by Rs. 6.75 (4.02%) to close at Rs. 174.75. The share price of ACL Cables recorded a gain of Rs. 4.50 (12.03%) to close at Rs. 41.90. The share price of John Keells Holdings declined by Rs. 0.25 (0.21%) to close at Rs. 119.50.
