Indices close in red

Indices closed in red as a result of price losses in counters such as Commercial Bank, Expolanka Holdings and Chevron Lubricants with the turnover crossing Rs. 693 mn. 
High net worth and institutional investor participation was noted in Melstacorp. Mixed interest was observed in Expolanka Holdings, Hayleys Fabric and Hayleys whilst retail interest was noted in EML Consultants, Browns Investments and LOLC Finance. 


Foreign participation in the market activity remained at subdued levels with foreigners closing as net sellers. Food, Beverage & Tobacco sector was the top contributor to the market turnover whilst the sector index edged down by 0.02%.  Transportation sector was the second highest contributor to the market turnover (due to Expolanka Holdings) whilst the sector index decreased by 1.59%. 


The share price of Expolanka Holdings decreased by Rs. 2.75 (1.59%) to close at Rs. 170.25. Hayleys Fabric, Hayleys, Lanka IOC and CIC Holdings nonvoting were also included amongst the top turnover contributors. The share price of Hayleys Fabric gained Rs. 2.00 (6.25%) to close at Rs. 34.00. The share price of Hayleys moved down by Rs. 0.70 (0.97%) to close at Rs. 71.60. 


The share price of Lanka IOC recorded a loss of Rs. 1.00 (1.20%) to close at Rs. 82.20. The share price of CIC Holdings nonvoting appreciated by Rs. 1.80 (6.38%) to close at Rs. 30.00.
