Small and medium-scale entrepreneurs will receive some breathing space going forward with the Cabinet green-lighting the establishment of the Institute of National Credit Insurance.
The objective of the institution is to provide relief to small and medium-scale entrepreneurs.
The institute is currently registered as a public limited company. Necessary steps are being taken to obtain US$ 50 million as its initial capital from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by President Ranil Wickremesinghe in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilisation and National Policies to commence operations of the Institute of National Credit Insurance.
