Jehan Perinpanayagam delivers his acceptance speech as SLASSCOM Chairman
Sri Lanka Association of Software and Service Companies (SLASSCOM) recently welcomed Jehan Perinpanayagam as its new Chairman for the year 2023/2024.
With a career spanning 26 years, including 16 years at C suite-level, Perinpanayagam has achieved many trailblazing milestones, including establishing the first shared services in Sri Lanka, introducing the country’s initial rural BPMs and leading various other industry firsts, positioning him as a prominent thought leader in the field.
Excelling in leading large teams and spearheading transformational projects, his successful track record in driving change and innovation has earned him a reputation as a purpose-driven leader. Firmly believing in the power of business as a force for good, he has consistently created a positive impact both within the industry and broader community.
Perinpanayagam’s outstanding achievements have been recognised through several accolades, including the Chairman’s Award for CSR from John Keells and CMA National Business Excellence award.
As CEO of Infomate (Pvt.) Limited, Perinpanayagam leads the company’s overall operations and strategic direction. Under his leadership, Infomate (Pvt.) Limited has achieved significant growth and success, solidifying its position as a leading player in the industry. Perinpanayagam also holds the position as Senior Vice President of John Keells Holdings.
He also holds several other leadership positions as Chairman of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and President of the Sri Lanka Nordic Business Council.
Commenting on his appointment, Perinpanayagam expressed, “I am honoured to assume the role as Chairman at SLASSCOM and to build on the outstanding effort and commitment of former chairs and champions of the industry. SLASSCOM plays a pivotal role in shaping Sri Lanka’s IT/BPM industry and I am excited to lead this fantastic organisation and work with some of the most talented and passionate professionals who make up the IT/BPM workforce. Together with the board, general council, many volunteers and corporate office, I am committed to working with industry and our partners, so that Sri Lanka achieves its full potential as the island of ingenuity, thereby creating employment opportunities and driving economic growth for our nation.”
Perinpanayagam stated that he plans to elevate the industry’s prominence on the global stage, by focusing on strengthening the Island of Ingenuity (IOI) branding initiative and consolidating partnerships with renowned global companies to project Sri Lanka as an ideal destination for IT/BPM services. He furthermore plans to tap into regional talent pools, to nurture a diverse and skilled workforce, ensuring sustained growth and industry resilience.
Perinpanayagam’s vision also includes green technology initiatives. Recognising its significant global potential, he believes that is an area that Sri Lanka’s IT/BPM industry can play a crucial role. Other key priorities encompass environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations, with a focus on promoting ESG practices among SLASSCOM members and establishing Sri Lanka as the world’s leading green IT/BPM destination. This commitment aligns with the vision for a green economy set by the president, ensuring the industry’s long-term sustainability.
Perinpanayagam also intends to focus on providing extensive networking and knowledge-sharing opportunities for SLASSCOM members and support the president’s vision of advancing Sri Lanka into a digitally modern nation.
