LOLC Divi Saviya yesterday announced the launch of the third phase of its transformative educational initiative, coinciding with the true spirit of Christmas.
This phase will set sight on expanding its outreach to schools with 100-150 students nationwide, marking a milestone of 3000 schools reached by the culmination of the second phase, which was completed in November.

In keeping with the spirit of the season, LOLC Divi Saviya unveils a unique Christmas edition, themed ‘Gifting the Future’ throughout the month of December. Embracing the festive spirit of giving, the organisation is dedicated in making a difference in the lives of young minds, ensuring a brighter and more promising future for the nation. In echoing this seasonal concept, LOLC has curated a series of special activations strategically centred around 24 LOLC branches across the island with the participation of regional schoolchildren in emphasising the value of ‘gifting’ dreams.

Since its inception in February 2023, the LOLC Divi Saviya initiative has constantly demonstrated its commitment to addressing the nation’s needs by providing essential school material to students from grades one to 13. The initiative successfully reached 1400 schools in its inaugural phase and expanded its impact to 1600 schools during the second phase. With the commencement of the third phase, the initiative expects to cover 1204 additional schools.

LOLC Group Group Managing Director/CEO Kapila Jayawardena expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are proud to announce another phase of the LOLC Divi Saviya humanitarian effort. This Christmas, we are not only celebrating the season of joy but also embodying the spirit of giving through our ‘Gifting the Future’ campaign. We believe in leading by example, aiming to inspire a collective change of heart within our community. By the end of phase three, we will have reached more than 40 percent of the schools in this country, positively impacting the education of countless children. As a true Sri Lankan multinational conglomerate, we take pride in contributing to the educational journey of the future generations of this country in these challenging times.”

The event witnessed the participation of over 350 students of selected schools in Colombo and its suburbs. LOLC Group Deputy Chairman Ishara Nanayakkara and LOLC Group Group Managing Director/CEO Kapila Jayawardena symbolically presented the initial batch of school equipment to the students. The ambitious project, now totalling up to Rs.2.5 billion, aims to distribute school supplies across all 25 districts of Sri Lanka.
