MMBL-Pathfinder Group looks at possibilities to popularise buffalo milk consumption in SL

MMBL-Pathfinder Group of Companies Group Director/CEO K. Balasundaram recently visited Amul Dairy Factory in Anand, Gujarat, India, to understand and gain more knowledge in setting up a model buffalo farm to popularise the consumption of buffalo (A2) milk in Sri Lanka.
The visit will enable the two institutions to achieve a deeper understanding of the possibilities of setting up a model 
buffalo farm in the country.


Anand Milk Union Limited, an Indian dairy state government cooperative society formed in 1946, is a cooperative brand managed by Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd, which today is controlled jointly by 36 lakh milk producers in Gujarat and the apex body of district milk unions, spread across over 13,500 villages of Gujarat.
“We have discussed to work with the world’s leading milk producer Amul in development of buffalo milk to popular the consumption,” said Balasundaram. 


During the visit, Balasundaram inspected Amul Milk Factory, which processes three million litres of milk a day, Calf Nursery, Embryo Development Centre and Chocolate Factory. He also met the directors of Amul Dairy, had discussions on dairy development and marketing their products in Sri Lanka.
