Market commences on a standstill

The secondary market commenced the week on a standstill as the investors opted for a wait and see approach, longing for more clarity on the market sentiment. 


Low activity and very limited trades were recorded during the day justifying the lethargic stance in the market. 
The AWPR was recorded at 9.09 percent for the week ending June 20, 2024, registering a decline of six basis points compared to the previous week, yet attaining to remain below the 10.0 percent mark.


Foreign holdings deteriorated by Rs.2.2 billion compared to last week, recording at Rs.68.5 billion for the week ending June 19, 2024.
The Sri Lankan rupee slightly depreciated against the US dollar, recording at Rs.305.4 during the day.
