Sri Lanka is gearing up to host a mega surfing carnival by the end of July, an effort to promote the destination and lure international travelers to uplift the struggling tourism sector.
Minister of Tourism Harin Fernando in a Tweet yesterday shared that a major surfing carnival, organized in partnership with the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) will be held on 29 and 30 July 2022. Fernando did not share details of the location of the event.
According to the minister, the event is expected to attract many famous surfers while popular artists are also expected to perform.
Fernando met with the organizers of the surfing competition this week.
