NDB Bank with CPM’s Women’s Chapter empowers women

NDB Bank announced its collaboration with the Institute of Chartered Professional Managers of Sri Lanka (CPM Sri Lanka) as the Official Banking Partner of its Professional Women’s Chapter, underscoring NDB’s commitment to empowering women and promoting gender equality in Sri Lanka.
On March 19, the CPM Sri Lanka Professional Women’s Chapter organised a landmark event at the BMICH, Colombo, in celebration of the International Women’s Day. Themed ‘Invest in Women; Accelerate Progress’, the event aimed to elevate women’s voices and advance gender equality, aligning with the UN Women’s global initiative.


The event featured a captivating keynote address by Zmessenger Co-Founder and CEO Jayomi Lokuliyana along with insightful panel discussions led by esteemed personalities such as International Boxing Association (IBA) Director Dian Gomes, Hon. Consul General for Georgia, University of Colombo Academic Mentoring Programme Chairperson Prof. Yamuna Siriwardana, NDB Vice President Legal Melody Wickramanayake and CPM Sri Lanka Professional Women’s Chapter Deputy Chairperson Ruwaiha Razik, who also moderated the event.
In addition to the enriching discussions, the event showcased performances by Sujatha Girl’s College, Colombo 05 and inspiring experience-sharing sessions by gold medallists of the Young Woman Entrepreneurship Competition organised for Musaeus College, Colombo and a Mentee from the Mentor Me programme.


Wickramanayake shared her sentiments on the event, stating, “Financial management plays a crucial role in women’s empowerment. By providing women with access to financial resources, education and mentorship, we empower them to take control of their financial future and contribute meaningfully to their families and communities.” 
She highlighted the many benefits women entrepreneurs could have by dealing through banking channels. She also emphasised the importance of initiatives like the CPM event in celebrating the achievements of women and fostering a supportive environment for their growth and success.
