Official reserves cross US $ 4bn mark in 2023

 Sri Lanka’s official reserves crossed the US $ 4 billion mark for the 12 months ending 2023, the provisional data from the Central Bank showed.
As per the latest data from the Central Bank, the officials reserves increased by 23 percent (month-on-month) in December to US $ 4.4 billion. In November 2023, the official reserves stood at US $ 3.7 billion.
The Central Bank said the US $ 4.4 billion includes a swap facility from People’s Bank of China, equivalent to around US $ 1.4 billion, which is subject to conditionalities on usability.
