After a challenging period marked by the COVID-19 crisis and the economic crisis, Sri Lanka’s tourism industry is witnessing growth.
International visitors, just as this tourist exploring the Gangaramaya Temple in Colombo, are once again flocking to the island nation to explore its rich cultural heritage.

In the first 20 days of March, Sri Lanka welcomed a total of 131,684 tourists, with an average of 43,000 arrivals per week. Leading the pack in tourist arrivals is India, with 19,832 visitors, closely followed by the Russian Federation, which contributed 19,393 tourists. Germany secured the third spot, with 11,936 tourists choosing Sri Lanka as their favourite destination.
The United Kingdom and China ranked as the fourth and fifth large tourist traffic generators for the month of March.
