SLANA clarifies on NVOCC agent’s license status

Clarifying the article titled ‘Licenses yet to be issued for NVOCC agents under new category to resolve payment facility issue’ published by Mirror Business on February 24, Sri Lanka Association of NVOCC Agents (SLANA) said, “Director General Merchant of Shipping has already issued licenses to majority of Non-vessel operating Common Carriers (NVOCCs), for those who have submitted applications duly complying with all requirements and therefore, NVOCC Agents now have the option of applying for direct payment facilities with all 3 Port Terminals (SAGT, JCT & CICT).”
SLANA also thanked the Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Aviation, Director General of Merchant Shipping and Director Licensing for taking this positive step to facilitate NVOCC agents.
