The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotions Bureau (SLTPB) yesterday said that the tenders for the public relations campaigns and six-month digital campaigns, targeting the key source markets, would be awarded soon.
The total campaign, for which the tenders will be awarded, is of about Rs.2 billion.
SLTPB Chairman Chalaka Gajabahu shared that Rs.1.3 billion has been allocated for the top five source markets: India, China, the UK, France and Germany. Scandinavia, the Middle East, Australia, South Korea and Japan are the other markets that will be focused on, with an allocation of Rs.700 million.
“We are going market specific, where individual agencies were required to apply from each market segment,” Gajabahu said.
He shared that three more tender papers are remaining to be awarded. A special report detailing the awarding process to be published early next week.
“People who have got the tenders are also reputable agencies and production houses in the country to take this forward,” he shared.
Meanwhile, plans are also underway to launch a marine tourism road map to develop coastal lines and facilities, with the avenue being identified as a new market segment for local tourism.
SLTDA Chairman Priantha Fernando told Mirror Business, on the sidelines of the MoU signing event, that the Marine Tourism Master Plan is set to be officially launched by the marine tourism events that are scheduled for August 7 and 8, in Arugambay.
