Sands Active launches Meldol; inaugurates cephalosporin injectable plant

Meldol, a 500 mg Paracetamol BP tablet, offering reliable relief from pain and fever, manufactured by Sands Active (Pvt.) Ltd, was officially launched recently.

The launch ceremony held in Ekala was graced by President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Tourism, Land, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Harin Fernando, Chief of Staff and National Security Advisor to the President Sagala Ratnayake, former Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Minister and incumbent Parliamentarian Dr. Rajitha Senaratne, Melwa Conglomerate directors and many other esteemed guests. 

During the event, the new cephalosporin injectable plant owned by Sands Active (Pvt.) Ltd was also inaugurated by Wickremesinghe. 

The plant signifies a major leap forward for Sri Lanka’s pharmaceutical sector. This state-of-the-art facility will significantly boost the nation’s ability to produce high-quality injectable antibiotics, essential for treating a variety of bacterial infections. Cephalosporins are a critical class of antibiotics in modern medicine, frequently used in hospitals to treat severe infections such as pneumonia, meningitis and sepsis.
