The Gamani Corea Foundation (GCF) was set up by the internationally renowned late Dr. Gamani Corea in 2000 to take his passion for development globally, with particular emphasis on Sri Lanka. Its mission is to contribute to the socioeconomic development of Sri Lanka and other low-income and middle-income countries through informed, independent, high-quality research.

The GCF has launched the Sri Lanka Innovators’ Forum (SLIF) as a proactive step to address the complex socioeconomic challenges faced by Sri Lanka and provide evidence-based policy recommendations. The SLIF brings subject specialists, industry stakeholders, policymakers, researchers, experts, thought leaders and the public together on a single platform. This initiative transcends borders and barriers, embracing a holistic approach to finding sustainable solutions across 20 key sectors, including governance, poverty alleviation, international trade, energy, education, health and foreign policy.

The SLIF introduced a comprehensive process that involves authoring of issues papers, reviewing them and ending up with a roundtable session with a panel of experts and the public.
This process was inaugurated in February this year and followed by three sessions on Macoeconomic Policy, Foreign Policy and Poverty Reduction Policy.

The upcoming session on June 16, 2023, focusing on Sub National Planning, will be held at Sri Lanka Foundation. Former Ministry Secretary Chandrasena Maliyadde would present the paper. The session will be chaired by Sri Lanka Economic Association President Ven. Prof. Wijitapure Wimalaratana, with panellists comprising experts and practitioners in the field.

This would be followed by ‘A Discourse on Good Governance’, led by Gamani Corea Foundation President Dr. Llyod Fernando and a seasoned senior public officer is scheduled for Friday, June 30, at the same venue.
The session would start at 4:00 p.m. and those interested can join the session in person at Sri Lanka Foundation or using digital platforms, Zoom and YouTube.
