The Federation of Information Technology Sri Lanka (FITIS) is gearing up to host the highly anticipated API Asia Conference 2023 for the second time, set to take place on November 16, at Shangri-La Hotel in Colombo.
The event’s official launch took place yesterday at the Presidential Media Centre. It was graced by Technology State Minister Kanaka Herath along with several eminent government and industry figures.
During the launch ceremony, Herath underscored the pivotal role of this year’s conference in advancing Sri Lanka’s digital economy.
The event will revolve around three critical pillars: artificial intelligence, smart cities and financial technology, all essential components of the digital ecosystem.

API Asia Conference 2023 is expected to draw over 500 professionals, including industry leaders and tech experts. With the theme ‘Fuelling the Digital Economy’, the conference will feature esteemed global speakers, who will share insights on thriving in a competitive market through digital transformation.
Herath emphasised the need to harness the power of application programming interfaces (APIs) in both the public and private sectors.
He also revealed that a series of weekly press conferences, leading up to the main event, will unveil more than 18 individual events spanning from mid-October to mid-November and continuing into next year, all contributing to the overarching goal of establishing a robust digital economic framework.
