SriLankan Airlines clarified that the delays experienced by its passengers at the check-in counters at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) yesterday were due to operational conditions at the airport.
In a statement to the media the airline stated that the delays were “caused by temporary and unplanned operational conditions at the airport and not due to any type of trade union action”.

The reported delays were during the early hours of yesterday morning.
“The check-in counter operations have been stabilised and returned to normal as of now,” it said.
While apologising to any passengers inconvenienced by the operational delays, SriLankan Airlines said that “the airline continues to monitor the situation and take steps to avoid a recurrence”.
