The Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute, Sri Lanka’s leading think tank on formulating foreign policy, appoints Talal Rafi

Rafi is an Economist and Strategy Consultant at Deloitte and a member of the Deloitte Global Economist Network. He is an Expert Member of the World Economic Forum and a regular columnist for the International Monetary Fund.
Rafi is a Co-Chair of the World Economic Forum’s Global Plastic Innovation Network action group and he was a member of Deloitte’s global ESG operations team. He was on a Selection Committee of the Asian Development Bank #DigitalAgainstCovid-19 Innovation Series, which empowered innovative businesses in Asia to tackle challenges posed by the pandemic.
As part of a team of experts appointed by the world leading International Affairs Think Tank, Chatham House London, Rafi supported formulating recommendations for the G7 and G20 on gender equality post-COVID-19. He is an Independent Non-Executive Director at the asset management firm Almas Holdings Ltd.
Rafi is a Visiting Lecturer at the Centre for Banking Studies, Central Bank of Sri Lanka, on economics and management. Rafi has given talks globally, including at the NASDAQ Centre, S&P Global and Central Bank of Sri Lanka. His work has been published by the World Bank, International Monetary Fund, Asian Development Bank, World Economic Forum, Chatham House London, UNFCCC, London School of Economics and Forbes.
Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute is a premier state policy think tank dedicated to researching and analysing the strategic interests of Sri Lanka in the realm of international relations. It functions as a forum for the generation of research and analysis and provides input to national policy formulation. Its training arm is the Bandaranaike International Diplomatic Training Institute. The successor to the Sri Lanka Institute of Strategic Studies, the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute was established by the enactment of the Sri Lanka Institute of Strategic Studies (Amendment) Act of 2006. The Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute board is chaired by Foreign Affairs Minister Ali Sabry.
