Rare and attractive sight...

The Victoria reservoir, the main reservoir of the five hydropower reservoirs, spilled over this morning. Engineers in Charge of the reservoir said four automatic spill gates opened last morning releasing the excess water into the Mahaweli Ganga. Residents of the area said the torrential flow of water from the spill gates and the splash created a lovely and attractive sight which was very rare. Pix by Shane Seneviratne
