Wild elephants

Wild elephants were seen wondering off a motorway near a wildlife preserve in Galgamuwa today. Asian elephants, that live to reach the age of 70, are increasingly straying into human settlements in search of food, as people encroach on their territory.It is estimated that by 2022, the number of wild elephants in Sri Lanka will be around 7500.
