Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is in negotiations with former Sri Lanka head coach Tom Moody to appoint him on a potential consultancy role. Sri Lanka reached the 2007 World Cup finals, the first time since their victory in 1996 tournament under Moody. The board now wants to use his extensive experience to help raise the local standards.
The former Australian international has responded positively for the offer and could start his first consultancy stint as early as mid-February. He expects to return three more times in each quarter of the year for short 10 to 15-day sessions. He will do this for the next two years.
The board is currently negotiating the terms and conditions which is likely to cost them handsomely for each session they plan with the 54-year-old veteran in the coaching business.
Sri Lanka made a complete overhaul of the national coaching structure, transferring Jerome Jayaratne back to the coaching department as the head and appointed brand new faces to the national team with Mickey Arthur as Consultant Head Coach of the national team.
