Shakib to bolster Bangladesh attack against Sri Lanka

Shakib Al Hasan is expected to arrive in Colombo on Thursday in time to join the team ahead of their must-win final group game of the Nidahas Trophy against Sri Lanka. The winner of Friday’s clash will meet India in Sunday’s T20 final.

Shakib has sufficiently recovered from his little finger injury suffered during their home series against Sri Lanka. He was initially expected to lead the side initially during the tri-nation series but was later declared unfit.

Bangladesh lost their both encounter’s against India but achieved a phenomenal feat when they defeated Sri Lanka in a record run chase last Saturday after Sri Lanka set up a mammoth target of 214 runs.
His presence will surely bolster Bangladesh line-up, particularly their ineffective bowling attack. He will also take over the captaincy from stand-in skipper Mahmudullah.

Shakib had hurt his finger during the January 27 tri-series final against Sri Lanka, after which he missed the Tests and ODIs against them at home. He also missed the Pakistan Super League, as well as the first three games in the Nidahas Trophy.
