Roshen Silva of Team Galle slammed an unbeaten 100 before stump drew on day one in their Super Four Provincial Cricket match against Team Kandy at Hambantota yesterday. At stumps Team Galle were well placed on 344 for seven.
Roshen who scored a career best unbeaten 231 in the opening match against Team Colombo was in cracking form as he remained unbeaten on 100 off 165 balls with nine boundaries.
The stylish middle-order bat also shared 167-run stand for the fifth wicket with Dasun Shanaka who departed for a well-played 90 runs. His innings which came off 145 balls had 12 boundaries and a six. Team Galle were in a tough position after left-arm seamer Lahiru Samarakoon removed Lahiru Milantha and Upul Tharanga in quick succession. But Madawa Warnapura (66) and Sadeera Samarawickrema (40) resurrected the innings with a 123-run stand for the third wicket.
Prabath Jayasuriya, Lahiru Samarakoon and Charith Asalanka picked up two wickets each.
The match also saw the return of Angelo Mathews to competitive cricket after a long injury lay-off.

Seamer Lahiru Madushanka picked up his maiden five wicket haul as Team Dambulla restricted Team Colombo to 210 in their Super Four match began at Dambulla.
Madushanka returned figures of five for 43 runs to dismantle Team Colombo’s innings.
Colombo lost five wickets for 52 runs but half centuries by Wanindu Hasaranga (52) and Lahiru Abeyratne (85) helped them to a decent score. Asitha Fernando also picked up two wickets.
At stumps Team Dambulla were 73 for the loss of four wickets with national stars Kusal Mendis (24), Dimuth Karunaratne (19) and Ashan Priyanjan all backed in the pavilion. Left arm seamer Dilesh Gunaratne was the pick of the bowler picking two wickets for 29 runs.
