Jasprit Bumrah, India's star pacer has been ruled out of India's Asia Cup game against Nepal set to be held on September 4 at Pallekele. He has gone back to Mumbai from Sri Lanka for the birth of his first child. However, the good news is that he will be back before India's first Super 4 encounter which will be most likely against Pakistan on September 10.
Jasprit Bumrah is an integral part of the Indian Team and returned back into the ODI setup after a long injury stint which kept him out of the team since september 2022. Though, he already made his comeback through T20I series against Ireland few weeks back but the Asia Cup is supposed to be his litmus Test with World Cup just around the corner.
The importance of Jasprit Bumrah for India
In the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami might fit into the XI against Nepal which will provide Shami some much-needed game time. Bumrah, on the other hand, did not get a chance to bowl in the first game against Pakistan as rain played spoilsport but looked pretty good in T20Is against Ireland recently.
The most important thing from India’s point of view is that their star bowler gets enough game-time and overs under his belt which is crucial for any bowler coming back from a big injury.
Overall, Jasprit Bumrah's absence in the Nepal game is not expected to be a big issue for India and we can expect Bumrah to make a big impact in this Asia Cup. (OneCricket)
