NPCA to conduct first ever T10 cricket tournament in Sri Lanka

The Nalanda Past Cricketers Association (NPCA) will conduct the first ever T10 tournament for schools, slated to be held on April 10 and 11 in four venues.

This was revealed by Nihal Pathirage the incumbent President of NPCA and Project Chairman of the organizing committee at a press briefing held at the Bloomfield club in Reid Avenue Colombo.

Speaking further he said that it was a big project and they were happy to have received the approval and support of the Education Ministry and the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association.

“We have also been getting the support of all the top notch cricketers of the past and the Elite panel of umpires,” he said. Pathirage stated that for this tournament 32 schools from 36 participating in various schools tournaments will be selected.

The first day’s play will see the teams playing the pre-quarter finals followed by the quarter finals, semi finals and the final scheduled to be played on the second day.

The matches will be played in four venues namely CCC, NCC, MCA and DS Senanayake College grounds.

The pre-quarter finals will be played in the above mentioned grounds while the quarter final and semi finals will be played at NCC ground and the final is slotted to be played at CCC.

The champions will receive a champion trophy, medals and certificates, cash award of Rs. 250,000 plus Rs. 100,000 worth of cricket materials and full board holiday package for 20 at Rangiri Resorts Dambulla.

The runner up will receive the trophy, medals and certificates, cash award of Rs. 100,000 plus Rs. 75,000 worth of cricket materials and leisure outing for 20 at Action Park Hanwella.

Awards will also be presented to the man of the series, man of the finals, highest run getter of the series, highest wicket-taker, highest number of catches, highest number of sixes, game change of the final, best cheering squad, best team motivator, best behaved team, spirit of cricket and best loser.
