Colombo (Daily Mirror) - Defending champions Trinity booked the berth to the final of the Under-19 Division One Tier ‘A’ limited over tournament when they prevailed by 10 runs on the D/L method over Royal in the semi-final encounter played at the Surrey Village ground in Maggona yesterday.

The match was stopped due to heavy rain when Royal, chasing 237 runs for victory, was on 80/2 having faced 20 overs, but the weather conditions became worse with play being impossible, which forced the umpires to call off the match and ensured a win for Trinity.

The morning session of proceedings saw Trinity invited to take the first lease of the wicket. Supun Waduge, another Sri Lanka Under-19 discarded player who has been in fine form, made a top score of 101 in 135 balls with nine boundaries, and Manula Kularatne, who chipped in with 51, bolstered the innings by putting on a valuable 120 runs in 145 balls for the fifth wicket, which paved the way for Trinity to end their innings with a modest score of 236 runs.

Trinity will now meet St. Joseph’s in the final scheduled to be played during the course of the week.
