Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has offered Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to host this year's edition of the Asia Cup in September, SLC Secretary Mohan de Silva said. SLC will now seek government's clearance on going ahead with the tournament contested by six  Asian countries.

This was discussed at the Executive Board of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) during a video conference meeting on Monday.

The tournament had been originally scheduled for Pakistan in September but India had earlier refused to take part unless it was held on neutral territory. ACC informed today that the venue for the upcoming Asia Cup will be decided soon.

"In light of the impact and consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, possible venue options for the Asia Cup 2020 were discussed and it was decided to take the final decision in due course. The Board was also apprised of the status and progress of the ACC's involvement with the Asian Games 2022 in Hangzhou, China. The Board noted with satisfaction the ongoing activities and initiatives of the ACC," read the ACC media release following the meeting.
