Suwas guides Prince of Wales to big win

25 Oct 2023 - {{hitsCtrl.values.hits}}

An unbeaten ton inclusive of two boundaries and six sixes by Suwas Fernando paved the way for Prince of Wales to record a big 107 run win over St. Benedict’s College, Kotahena in the Under 19 inter-school cricket tournament encounter played at Kotahena.

Fernando’s ton helped the Cambrians taking first lease of the wicket to make a modest score of 210 and St. Benedict’s in their run chase was able to muster a score of only 103 runs.

A five wicket haul by Yuri Koththigoda and an unbeaten half ton by Chehan Subasinghe helped Richmond to record a convincing nine wicket win over St. Sebastian’s Moratuwa while S. Thomas’ Mt. Lavinia along with De Mazenod, Sri Devananda MV Ambalangoda, St John’s Panadura, St John’s Nugegoda and Kingswood came out victorious in the other matches that were played. (M. Shamil Amit)
