(Daily Mirror) - Under 19 Quarter Finals: Defending champions Trinity College and St Joseph’s College booked their berths to the semi finals of the Under 19 Division One Tier ‘A’ inter-school limited over cricket tournament when they came out victorious against Mahanama College Colombo and last year's runners up Richmond College in the quarter final encounters played at Kandana and Thurstan ground.
Trinity was guided by Dinusha Peiris and Viduka Dhammage who both made unbeaten half tons with Peiris making 78 inclusive of six boundaries and three sixes and Dhammage 52 with five boundaries were associated in an unbroken 127 runs in 135 balls for the third wicket to help Trinity chasing 159 runs for victory to race to the target in the 35th over.
Meanwhile man in form Hirun Kapurubandara put in another fine batting display when he cracked a 40 ball knock of 55 inclusive of four boundaries and four sixes which laid the foundation for St. Joseph’s to record a two wicket win against Richmond in another quarter final encounter of the same segment played at Thurstan ground.
Kapurubandara put on a 74 runs stand in 53 balls for the opening wicket with Abishek Jayaweera but the Josephians from there on underwent some anxious moments when they lost four quick wickets for 19 runs and slid to 93 for 5 before skipper Lahiru Amarasekera helped them race to the target of 165 runs with eight balls to spare.
With the quarter final encounters of the Tier ‘A’ segment completed defending champions Trinity will meet Royal and St. Joseph’s will clash against De Mazenod.
