As the search begins for candidates for the next batch of ‘Pranama’ scholarships presented annually by Ceylinco Life, Sri Lanka’s life insurance leader has announced an increase in the value of some categories of scholarships, to be presented for the 15th year in early 2016.

The collection of applications for the next edition of the four-tiered scholarships programme has commenced, and will close on 30th November, the company said.

Ceylinco Life’s Pranama scholarships programme recognises academic as well as extra-curricular achievements of children of policyholders with cash rewards for those who achieve the best results in their respective districts at the year 5 scholarship examination, the GCE Ordinary Level, and the GCE Advanced Level as well as for children who excel at the national level in sports, culture, arts, drama or invention.

The Company also pays special cash awards to policyholder’s children who are placed second, third and fourth at district level at the GCE Advanced Level examinations.

Effective this year, Ceylinco Life has decided to increase the value of the monthly disbursement to children eligible for rewards on their performance at the Year 5 scholarship examination.

Similarly, the value of the Pranama scholarship for high achievers at the GCE (Ordinary Level) examination is to be increased.

At the Pranama scholarships presented earlier this year, Ceylinco Life increased the one-time payment presented to students placed 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in their districts at the GCE Advanced Level examination.

“Over the past 14 years, the Pranama scholarships programme has presented 1,924 scholarships with a cumulative value of more than Rs 100 million,” Ceylinco Life Managing Director/CEO R. Renganathan said. “Taking into consideration the ever increasing cost burden on parents, we have increased the total value of the next 160 scholarships to be presented under the programme.”

Ceylinco Life branches island-wide have now begun accepting applications from those eligible to be rewarded under the next round of the Pranama scholarship scheme.

One of many benefits available to Ceylinco Life policyholders, the Pranama scholarship scheme underscores the importance accorded by the company to education, which is one of the key areas of intervention in the Ceylinco Life Rewards programme.
