ComBank empowers micro entrepreneurs of Point Pedro

The Commercial Bank has reaffirmed its commitment to customers in the northern peninsula with a programme in Point Pedro on Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship Development for micro entrepreneurs.

One of a series of such knowledge-enhancing programmes being conducted by the bank countrywide, the programme organised by Commercial Bank’s Nelliady branch and the Bank’s Agriculture & Micro Finance Unit (AMFU) in Atchuvely, benefitted 138 micro entrepreneurs.Highlights of the programme included a presentation on Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship Development by Rajani Vijayalan, Senior Manager of the Central Bank Northern Region, and an elaboration on New Rules and Regulations related to Fishing by B Rameshkana, Assistant Director of the Fisheries Department.
Several Fisheries Societies representing women involved in the industry participated in the programme.
The Commercial Bank has conducted similar programmes for SMEs and micro entrepreneurs in areas such as Narammala, Galle, Monaragala, Wellawaya, Badulla, Passara, Bandarawela, Welimada, Weligama, Koggala, Karapitiya, Matara, Batticaloa, Ampara, Kurunegala, Jaffna, Vavuniya, Hingurakgoda and Kandy in the recent past.
The Bank’s Agriculture and Micro Finance Units are located in Ratnapura, Narammala, Kandy, Anuradhapura, Kilinochchi, Bandarawela, Wellawaya, Hingurakgoda, Galewela, Atchuvely, Vavuniya and Tissamaharama. They identify and support people who need financial assistance for Agri/Micro businesses, provide guidance on how to improve their businesses and help resolve difficulties.
