DFCC Bank recently donated dry rations to families from Vaatharawathai who were affected by the continuous rainfall that resulted in heavy flooding in the North of Sri Lanka.
Vatharavathai, a small village located 20 kilometres away from the Jaffna city, suffered extensive damage after it was affected by a flash flood, which was caused by continuous and extensive rainfall over four days. The affected families were temporarily relocated and shelters were set up in several small buildings and a public school.
The staff of the Northern Regional office of DFCC Bank visited the flood-affected area soon after hearing the news in order to identify the immediate needs of the affected people in the wake of the floods. Having assessed the situation first hand, the regional office, officials with the assistance of the Divisional Secretariat and the DFCC Bank Jaffna branch staff members made arrangements to distribute dry rations to the affected.
Similarly, the staff of DFCC Bank Vavuniya branch also visited the displaced flood victims in their area and assisted them by distributing dry rations, which provided the displaced with access to food and clean water in the wake of the flooding.
