Fashion Bug, one of Sri Lanka’s leading retail clothing stores with over 16 outlets islandwide, continued its corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities with a project especially designed for the World Environment Day, namely ‘Puruduwenna’.

As the name denotes, ‘Pruduwenna’ is all about teaching people to preserve the environment and to get into the habit of keeping the environment clean.
Name boards with messages related to environmental conservation such as ‘plant a tree for future generations’, ‘use the garbage bin for littering’, ‘reduce the use of polythene’ and many other messages were installed under this project along the Bellanwila walking path. The purpose of this project was to inculcate the habit amongst the public of protecting and preserving the environment we live.

“Today the effects of global warming are amply displayed. Eroding coastal lines and all the effects of rapid urbanization and fast-growing industry which has escalated without consideration of its impact on the environment, will soon make planet Earth untenable unless each and every one of us plays our part. Fashion Bug has always prided itself on the fact that we are a responsible corporate citizen and this is just one of our many CSR initiatives,” said Fashion Bug Director Shabier Subian.

Ven. Prof. Dr. Bellanwila Wimalaratana Anunayake Thera, of former Borelasgamuwa Mayor Aruna Priyashantha, Fashion Bug (Pvt.) Ltd Director Shabier Subian, Fashion Bug (Pvt.) Ltd Deputy General Manager Dr. S.H.M Faraaz were among those who participated in and launched the programme.

In addition, these sign boards were also displayed in all Fashion Bug outlets in a bid to create awareness among Fashion Bug’s many customers.
