Fashion Bug made yet another initiative in its series of continuous CSR activities with recently having donated clothing for students of Bodhiraja School, Moratuwa.
Dr. S H M Faraaz, Deputy General Manager, Fashion Bug, said ‘‘With the Avrudhu being a time of joy, sharing and celebrating across Sri Lanka, it’s also equally important to recognize and give back to those under-privileged such as these students at Bodhiraja School who couldn’t afford uniforms at all.’’
‘Students expressed smiles and delight as they received their uniforms. This shows just how much a small contribution matters to them in their lives. We continuously strive to be a supporting hand for the future generation to boost their morale and lifestyles,’ he further stated. Bodhiraja School consists of 112 students with around seven teachers.
Fashion Bug’s CSR initiative ‘Sisu Dirimaga’ has touched the hearts and minds of thousands of students in Sri Lanka. Amongst its numerous career guidance workshops which today has become a platform and an eye-opener for students to align, shape and nurture their future in a way that would best suit themselves and best achieve their goals and objectives, Sisu Dirimaga has contributed to a better society and environment in many other ways.
The completion of a drinking water project, donation of a computer unit, sponsorship of a scholarship foundation, refurbishment of maternity wards at many hospitals, initiation of other environmental projects across the country, just says about how much more it has done in contributing to society and the underprivileged schools in rural parts of Sri Lanka.
‘‘The donation of this nature is one aspect of our CSR push which contributes to underprivileged schools where students should be able to access education regardless their circumstances. Being a responsible corporate citizen we also continuously engage with students in many other ways to uplift and create a positive environment both through career guidance and physical infrastructure programs,’ said Shabier Subian, Director, Fashion Bug.
Sisu Dirimaga has successfully benefitted 16 schools and 4500 students as of today, and continues all the way till it achieves its goal of spreading amongst 120 schools and over 100,000 students across the country.
Fashion Bug commenced its operations since 1994 as a partnership business with 4 partners and a staff population of just 15, and today it possesses over 16 stores throughout the country.
