HSBC Global Service Centre Sri Lanka joins hands with World Vision to support local communities

HSBC’s Global Service Centre in Sri Lanka (GSCSL) announced it had entered into an agreement with World Vision Lanka (Guarantee) Limited to implement a water and sanitation project under HSBC’s Global Water Programme that would serve to benefit families and schools in the Neluwa Division Secretariat in the Galle District of Sri Lanka. 
The agreement was signed between Eduardo Mercadillo, Centre Director, HSBC Global Service Centre in Sri Lanka and Suresh Bartlett, National Director of World Vision Lanka (Guarantee) Limited. 
Through the project over 900 families, 4100 students and school staff, hospitals and maternal clinics in the community will have access to safe drinking water and sanitation facilities. HSBC GSCSL will also organise staff volunteering programmes to support the ongoing project that is expected to reach completion by 2016.

HSBC’s Global Water Programme, is an ongoing five-year environmental initiative in partnership with three of the world’s most respected non-government organisations (NGOs) – WWF, WaterAid and Earthwatch.
Simultaneously, HSBC GSCSL commenced The ‘Rideegama Sanitation and Hygiene Improvement Project’ with World Vision Lanka (Guarantee) Limited in the Rideegama Divisional Secretariat Division within the Kurunegala District. 

The project similar in nature will seek to provide safe, drinking water for over 600 students in two schools namely Pussella Primary, Puswelithenna and Nalandawa Junior School, Alakolamada. 
Phase one of the project was concluded on 7 August 2015, with the participation of over 300 HSBC GSCSL employees. The project is expected to reach completion by end 2015.
