Kelani Cables PLC conducts its much talked about corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme ‘Kelani Visura’ on wire laying in electrical systems for electrical technicians and apprentices throughout the country.
Two latest workshops of Kelani Visura were held at Kebithigollewa in the Anuradhapura District and Dambulla in the Matale District. Here the participants were taught of the latest methods of electrical wire laying.
Kelani Visura was launched by Kelani Cables PLC a decade back as part of its CSR programme - Electrical Technicians’ Golden Welfare Service. This endeavour was initiated with a view to gearing electrical technicians scattered throughout the country of the latest techniques practiced in the sector.
The newest Kelani Visura workshops held at the Lihini Hotel in Dambulla and Ambasevana Hotel in Kebithigollewa were led by Kelani Cables PLC Sales Engineer Sanjeewa Gunetilleke. The two programmes attracted over 200 electrical technicians from the localities.
Here the participants were taught how to select wires with certified quality for the safety of houses and buildings, fix plug-points and switches taking into account the distance and nature of the house/building, select wires to suit the number of lamps, laying of wires and other relevant areas of crucial importance.
These comprehensive one-day workshops were inclusive of food and refreshments and were concluded after presenting certificates and gifts to the participants.
The significance of Kelani Visura is gearing every participant with the knowledge to illustrate an electrical wire-laying plan of a house or a building during the session. Thus, a particular technician becomes a person who could rub shoulders with others in this competitive field.
Kelani Visura, which became the leading workshop to train electrical technicians and apprentices throughout Sri Lanka, has been able to reach the milestone of training 16,000 technicians lately.
Kelani Cables PLC Brand Development Manager Channa Jayasinghe expressing views at the two workshops said Kelani Cables PLC treats the Kelani Visura CSR programme as an investment made towards the emergence of a new breed of world-class electrical technicians.
“Amongst the top brands introduced to the marketplace by Kelani Cables PLC, Kelani wires play a significant role. Throughout many years this product of ours has consolidated the number one position in this country,” said Jayasinghe.
He further observed, “We selected the Anuradhapura and Matale Districts to conduct the Kelani Visura workshops this time because we identified a dire need amongst the youth in these districts to further their knowledge in electrical wire laying. Thus, we owed them something of this nature to support their progress in life as skilled electrical technicians. Kelani Visura is the best programme that provides them with a comprehensive and world-class knowledge of the subject. We, as a company, are proud to be part of this endeavour.”
