PLC partners with HelpAge Sri Lanka to conduct mobile medical and eye screening clinic

People’s Leasing & Finance PLC (PLC), Wennappuwa Branch partnered with HelpAge Sri Lanka (HASL) to conduct mobile medical and eye screening camp for the benefit of Senior Customers of the Wennappuwa PLC Branch recently.
The camp was held at the PLC office premises to coincide with the fourth anniversary of the Wennappuwa Branch. Chief Manager – Mr. Chamil Herath and the CSR team were present from Head Office. Head of PLC Wennappuwa and his team contributed their unreserved voluntarily support to make this initiative a great success.
The campaign commenced with pre awareness service for 140 elderly who were clinically screened during the day. Sixty nine were screened for eye care and 72 for other ailments with medicine. Fifty six persons with vision impairments were provided with bi-focal spectacles, while three patients were referred to the nearest government hospitals for further treatment.
PLC contributed proceeds towards this worthy cause as one of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives towards customer well-being. A large number of Senior PLC customers attended the clinic to reap the benefits offered by the camp.
Meanwhile, four cataract patients were directed to Help Age Eye Care Centre at Sinsapa Road, Wellawatta for surgery at no cost to the patient.
“People’s Leasing & Finance PLC is always very friendly and provide a great service. This gesture is beyond their formal service and it benefits the elderly people like me” said a loyal senior customer of PLC Wennappuwa.
Over the years, HelpAge SriLanka extended immense support to Senior Citizens as a responsible corporate. Head of PLC Wennappuwa - Ajith Agalle, said that the programme was highly appreciated by Senior PLC customers who have medical and eye care needs and also cataract surgeries under this programme.
HASL, Manager Special Projects Russell Juriansz thanked People’s Leasing Company for their kind gesture and said that proceeds generated from hosting this initiative will be invested on performing cataract surgeries for the economically marginalized senior citizens.
HASL, Executive Director - Samantha Liyanawaduge stated that there is a marked improvement in contributions made by the private sector towards the health and eye care programme of HASL and thanked People’s Leasing & Finance PLC for partnering with HelpAge Sri Lanka for this worthy cause.
