Catholic priests to boycott Independence Day

Rev. Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando of the Colombo Archdiocese said that Catholic priests will not attend the Independence Day celebrations. "What freedom does Sri Lanka have to celebrate it at a cost of Rs. 200 million?" he questioned, stating that it is a crime against the people to waste this amount of money at a time of a grave economic crisis.
