Lawyers seek immediate intervention

The fraternity of lawyers sought immediate and serious attention of the Attorney General, law enforcement agencies and of the Minister of Public Security, after the resignation of the District Judge of Mullaitivu T. Saravanaraja, whose resignation letter sparked concerns over the independence of judiciary in Sri Lanka.

Attorney-at-law Kaushalya Nawaratne, the President of Sri Lanka BAR Association, stated that the entire fraternity of lawyers are seriously concerned on the facts outlined by Mr. Saravanaraja in his letter of resignation.
